Apleona Ireland are delighted to have had our core contract with client Abbvie retained for a further three years. Apleona initially started providing services to the Abbvie Sligo site in January 2017.

Abbvie are a highly focused research-driven biopharmaceutical company. At Sligo, they manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products for distribution throughout the world. Apleona’s contract with Abbvie has grown substantially over the last few years. Initially the contract was limited to the TUPE of two staff, with 90 technical service lines such as compressed air leak, nitrogen leak, vibration analysis, EL checks, weekly energy checks, utility checks, oil analysis.

In 2019, Apleona took over the GMP cleaning at very short notice. Within one month the FDA were on-site auditing the facility. Apleona put a lot of time and effort to ensure all standards were met including correct GMP Doc. practices, training, SOP procedures, correct staffing resources, and Apleona cleaning SME interaction.

Abbvie were very complementary of how quickly Apleona responded and this was reflected in the audit findings. We have been awarded the cGMP cleaning contract for three years as a result of the performance of our team.

In 2020 we have added calibrations to our scope and added a GO and electrical resource to the team, bringing the on-site team to 18 in a relatively short period of time. Over the next few years we again will be looking to push our strong relationship with Abbvie to expand our offering with additional services and sites.
